Fall Ice Skating (Williwaw Loop, Rabbit Lake)

The ice conditions don't line up every year, and Fall 2023 was a particularly good year. So I'm not sure how helpful this information will be all the time. I didn't get to do as much ice skating as I would have hoped, since I was on my way to Antarctica this week. Potter Marsh and Rabbit Slough have been good the last few falls, but this year a lot of big water froze before snow covered it!
Bri, Miles, Liz and I did the Williwaw loop, skating on each of the five lakes or so. Noah met us on the way down from some scramble traverse thing and joined half way in for the skating. We left from Glen Alps trailhead, up O'Malley, finished the lakes with Long lake, continued out to Near Point, and down to North Bivouac trailhead where we had shuttled that morning. We got to see so many cool formations in the ice. We didn't arrive back until around 9p, and my flight out for the winter was at 1a. It was a quick pack and move out, but we made it.

Earlier that week Patrick and I went to Rabbit Lake. Straight forward and we walked, but would have been a cool opportunity to do a bike to skate. This fall you could have come up with unlimited traverses and skates to do.
